Resources

This page has been put together as a resource page for you to easily find resources useful for teaching subject content in the T.A.S faculty or, if you are currently a student. The types of resources I will be adding here are resources such as recommended apps, iBooks and eBooks, online tools, links to material suppliers.

Please note that many of the resources on this page will be free content however, some are services that are paid services (such as web site hosting). Some of these links are affiliate links which means I will earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase. This is at no additional cost to you. Please do not spend any money on these products unless you feel you need them or that they will help you in your educational goals. All the resources here are products which I have either used myself or have developed myself.

Resources for your iPad

The introduction of the iPad, with its easy to manipulate touch screen, has allowed students to take advantage of the benefits of a portable computer. Its portable format and fast load-up time has made it possible for them to be used easily in the classroom. This page has been developed to highlight some apps that I have either used and found useful, have been recommended by readers of this website or by other TAS staff.

Web Site Hosting Resources

Weebly.com

The Easiest Way to Create a Website. Weebly.com

Weebly.com is a free web hosting and creation site which I have used with class groups in the past. It is free to use with some limitations. Teachers can sign up for an education account which gives you the ability to manage a class of students. I have found it easy to use and a good way to start students of in the area of Web Design.

Bluehost.com

Most of my websites, including this one are hosted on Bluehost. I found the service easy to understand particularly when I was starting with web site development. A site like Bluehost.com would really only be necessary if you wanted your website to have its own dedicated domain address (Such as www.tasstudent.com) Having this gives you much more flexibility in how you design your site and what you can include in it. I recommend using Bluehost for your first professional site such as this one.

iBooks

My Timber Project - Industrial Technology Book

My Timber Project  is my first education related iBook. I put this book together initially as a resource for my Senior Industrial Technology Timber class to help in selecting an appropriate project to construct. It contains examples of timber furniture and other smaller items with descriptions of the skills that could be demonstrated to examiners for the various projects. Free download from the Apple iBook store.
